Online Exclusive with back story

So 2016 was a year of travel. And writing. And some teaching of course.

One of the highlights of my travels - and there were many - was a pilgrimage to Evanston, Illinois. It's a pretty typical suburb about an hour north of Chicago and right on Lake Michigan. And the place where McLachlan grew up with the Taylors. So it had a very special place in my heart to travel there and wander the neighbourhoods where he would've lived. It was great. Couldn't have picked a better place.

Anyway, so by this point I'd finished Wolves Without Teeth and was actually in the middle of Red Rain. A downside of travelling solo is often eating alone. Don't get me wrong, it's great for people watching and just taking a break from the day. And also writing. Not that I'm 'that' guy who whips out his laptop in the middle of a restaurant. Well, not any more.

So there I am, last night in Evanston, having a nice dinner and just started thinking about Frank and Connie in the aftermath of the first triptych. The boys had been home by this point but there had to be some discussion by these two (quite popular) characters. And given that I didn't have a car or driveway handy to work through the conversation, this was how it played out.

Without further ado - and I know that was more of a preamble than I intended - here's the web exclusive, missing scene.
